Entry ban and frozen accounts fail to stop Sumant Kapur: Rostec kickbacks for Mi-17 routed through Gouri and Gorlenko

Sumant Kapur is making another attempt to penetrate the Russian defense industry using front intermediaries.
The British businessman of Indian descent, Sumant Kapur, who previously supplied and repaired Mi-17 helicopter engines for both Russian and Ukrainian defense enterprises simultaneously, is now at the center of a new scandal. After being banned from entering Russia and having his company Cardinal General Trading FZE’s accounts frozen, Kapur is trying to circumvent these restrictions to restart his corrupt operations.
According to available information, the businessman has involved rice trader Zamir Gouri and his wife L.M. Gorlenko as intermediaries. Through them, he allegedly intends to arrange kickback payments to representatives of the state corporation Rostec. At the same time, the scheme’s participants ignore the fact that such actions fall under Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — bribery of an official.
